Meet Bird Forestry Senior Forester Robert Ogle. The Ruston, Louisiana native will celebrate four years with the company on September 14.
Robert’s prior experience includes working for Martin Timber as a Forester/GIS Analyst, for Weyerhaeuser as a Mid-Rotation Forester, and as Timber Sale Administrator for Bird Forestry. Before entering the forestry profession, he worked in the Enhanced 911 (E911) field working on geographic information system (GIS) and addressing projects with the Lincoln Parish GIS Office/Police Jury.
He is a member of the Association of Consulting Foresters, Louisiana Forestry Association, and Texas Forestry Association. Robert is also currently studying to be a licensed notary in Louisiana and future plans call for coursework toward a Louisiana Real Estate license.
Ruston High School is Robert’s Alma Mater where he played baseball earning honors as All-District Pitcher and All-State Pitcher before graduating in 1996. His next stop was Bossier Parish Community College (BPCC) from 1996 to 1998 completing general studies courses followed by Louisiana Tech University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry with a minor in Computer Information Systems and Geographical Information Systems in 2003, all while graduating with ‘Cum Laude’ honors.
Robert’s baseball path continued through college earning him scholarships for baseball at both BPCC and at Louisiana Tech where he was also awarded a scholarship for forestry.
Between BPCC and Louisiana Tech, Robert played one year of minor league baseball in 2000 for the Alexandria Aces in the Texas-Louisiana League. “I got to fulfill my dream of playing professional baseball—as short of a career as it was,” Robert laughed.
“… I feel God has blessed me because I have the ability to wake up and go to work every day doing something that I enjoy and have a passion for.”

Robert and his wife, Keena, reside in Stonewall, Louisiana with their sons, Trace-Allen (12) and Trenton (10).
Robert reports that he likes to “…hunt, fish and be in the outdoors. I enjoy spending time with family and doing things together with them as much as possible,“ he said. “My kids are involved in many sports and I value my time with them as I ‘chase them from event to event’ and watch them grow in every aspect of their lives.”
Robert’s oldest son played for the Shreveport Dixie Ozone League age 12 All-Star team this past summer where they finished fourth in the state. “I have been a coach or assistant coach for his teams since he was 7-years-old,” said Robert.
Robert concluded saying, “I just want people to know that I feel God has blessed me because I have the ability to wake up and go to work every day doing something that I enjoy and have a passion for.”
Ever since Robert came on board, he has been a team player and willing to do any task placed in front of him,” said Mark Bird. “Coming from a more industrial focus forestry background, he has been able to transition into consulting forester very well over the past few years. We are very thankful that Robert has chosen to be a part of our team for the last four years.”
